301 redirects to PDFs (and other content uploads)

Post by Dgalassi1792 »

Hi,

We need to create 301 redirects to various PDFs for a client. These are uniquely different in the fact that the 301 is not going from a page, but from an uploaded resource in the uploads directory. Can you provide guidance on how we are to create those redirects for SEO purposes to point from one PDF url to the new PDF url.

Thank you!

We are happy to help you with this! Can you provide and example of the "from" and "to" urls? Do they end with the ".pdf" extension?

Hi Dave,

Yes, they do... both will end with a .pdf extension.

example urls:

old: http://example.com/pathname/file.pdf
new: http://example.com/anotherpathname/file.pdf

The pdf would be the same in both places, just different pathnames from the old to the new.

Thank you!

That is a very unique situation. We will need to insert a special exception for you. I will call you to get additional details.
