Coupon Quantities, etc...

Post by Lmoore3503 »

Hello.

Can someone help me figure out the best way to handle this situation? Right now we have a $5 membership that we would like to offer on a group basis.

For example, our fearless leader is doing a seminar with 1000 people. The organizer of the seminar would like to purchase 1000 memberships so that each person at the seminar can log in and participate without paying.

My first thought was to use coupon codes, that way the people attending the seminar can go to the site, purchase the membership, enter the coupon code, and not be charged. However there are 2 questions - one, how do we charge for 1000 uses of a $5 membership? 2, if coupons are involved, how do we do that when the max quantity on a coupon is 99?

Is there a better way to go about this?

Thanks!

There are 2 possibilities for your first question:

1. You can charge the organizer of the seminar by creating an invoice in the console and taking payment via cash, check, or credit card. Once the purchase has been completed, you can generate the unique coupon code and provide it to the organizer of the seminar.

Here is a video that will walk you through the steps to create an invoice:

2. You can also create a "kit" product which will contain a number of products (this is a way of "bundling" a number of separate items into a single item). This will allow the organizer of the seminar to make the purchase from your website without your assistance. Once the order has been received, you can then generate the unique coupon code and provide it to the organizer of the seminar. When creating the kit, you will be limited to a quantity of 99 - go ahead and create your kit with the quantity of 99 and then reply back in this thread and we will increase this number to 1,000 on your behalf.

You could also use this same method to create a kit with a quantity of 50 and then the organizer of the seminar could purchase a quantity of 20 bundles (kits) of 50 memberships per kit (20 x 50 = 1,000 total). You can create a kit of any quantity such as 10, 50, 100, 1,000 - depending on your needs.

In response to your coupon code question:
The coupon code limit will only be an issue if an individual attending the seminar purchases more than 99 memberships for themselves. Is there a reason that a single individual attending the seminar would need more than 99 of the same membership?
