order shipped email confirmation

Aloha!
How am I able to tell if our email notifying a customer that their order has been shipped was actually emailed to the customer? When I look at the customer's profile I am only seeing the new order and then that an email was sent confirming that the order has been received....there is no second email update for order ##### notifying of shipping. I've had the customers check their spam and junk folders.
