Wholesale

Thoughts on the wholesale and reseller management module of APWT

The focus of this module should be CRM – Customer Relationship Management. It
should contain:
- a dashboard for each reseller.
- all reseller contact information
- ability to simply enter contact history (calls, emails, shipments, etc.) with
reseller
- ability to store any contracts, terms and conditions sheets, and other key
documents related to retailer (nice to have)
- ability to interface w APWT email system to facilitate reseller-specific mass
correspondence

There should be different categories of resellers and wholesalers. At a minimum,
distributors, brokers, resellers, retail store chains, individual stores within the
chains, in a hierarchical configuration for organizations that have multiple layers,
such as retail chains.

Minimize steps and clicks. For example, on the “Accounts and Orders” page there is
a “create order” tab, which when clicked, goes to a create order button.

Easy to get to, obvious button to take an order from the Main Menu highest-level
page. This would work for resale phone orders too.

The APWT logo on the Main Menu page takes the user to the APWT page, not to the
highest-level Main Menu page as would be typically expected.

System must be able to accommodate partial payments from resellers or wholesale
accounts. (But not retail web customers.)

Separate shipping addresses for each order. Ability to ship samples or orders on
behalf of a reseller using separate shipping addresses for each order, including
shipping to a specific person, and without re configuring resellers shipping address.
(A similar function should be available for web retail, allowing customers to ship to
multiple people and addresses as for gifts.)

Instead of complex, unattractive search panel when looking for resellers, default
should be a simple tool like alphabetical order, with a link to “Advanced Search”.
For searching, there should also be name, state, zipcode, country (?).

What does “Hold Order” mean? What is this used for?

Why do order addresses download, rather than appearing as a PDF or some other
viewable or printable form?

How is a Mobile order different than an Internet order?

Notes should be available for each order.

Easy to see purchase history.
- able to sort by date, payment status, items ordered, etc.
- payment types should be paid, unpaid, returned.
o Unpaid should be current, overdue, or bad debt
o But where does bad debt orders go to?
- Returns should be linked to the original order

What is the attempted purchase history? Can this information be put somewhere
else?

Thanks for this. There are many things lacking in the current reseller system. We are planning on building out a new wholesale module in the next month or 2. I will add this to the developer notes.

We have also re-thought the entire attempted purchase history system. We are planning an improved abandoned cart system.

Great suggestions. A CRM Module will be AWESOME to have. Period. To combine that with everything else this is capable of would be really helpful. :D

Other possible features for upgrade:
  1. ability to associate an account with a specific sales person (right now I know that a reseller can have a "type" associated with it.
  2. along the same lines make it possible to email a reseller invoice to the sales person rather than strictly to the email associated with the reseller account. (current workaround is to change the reseller's email temporarily)
  3. ability to track commissions
  4. rearrange columns on "sales stats" - perhaps "discounts" should precede "net"
  5. allow deletion of superfluous accounts
  6. create categories of products for creating orders to make more searchable
  7. allow product names to be edited in case they need to be refined or changed for the better

Thank you for these suggestions, we will keep these in mind for future versions. We do however already have these items:
  1. ability to track commissions
  2. allow product names to be edited in case they need to be refined or changed for the better

I suggest that "order detail" for invoices (like #2064) which are paid should show a stamp that says "paid in full."
