Test email to myself goes to spam/junk folder

I sent a test email and it went to my junk folder in outlook. Is there anything I should be doing to avoid this?

This will ONLY happen to you, and here is why:

Many email systems (such as: gmail, yahoo, outlook, and others) can see that something strange happened - you are sending an email to yourself, from yourself.

For example, if your email address is [email protected] and your send an email to [email protected].

So your email provider says to themselves, "Why would someone send an email to themselves? - This must be an illegitimate email!"

and they put it in the spam or junk folder - but they only do this for you! When you send to ANY other email address, it will be from your email address to a DIFFERENT email address.
