Question about merging contacts and buyers

Currently we have a set up where we have leads fill out sign up boxes with their information for required reasons (like a waiver),
Then it takes them to a calendar product to schedule their appointment, which as a product, requires them to create/sign in to their buyer account.

My question is, can these contacts/profiles can be merged in APWT? If so, what is needed?

The system will now allow duplicate accounts to be created when a customer creates an account on the website so this shouldn't be an issue.
Since you've already captured information, you can change what is required when a customer is creating an account .This can be done from the "Other Settings" tab under "Settings"->"Website"

Turns out the question was just meant to be "What is required information across signup boxes or product purchases for the CRM to recognize a user."

Signup boxes matches users by email address and/or phone number. CRM users are recognized by email through product purchases.
