paypal checkout errors

Post by Andy1735 »

Upon testing our Paypal checkout, i have noticed 2 errors. First, the thank you page is skipped, and the user goes straight to the homepage. So there is no confirmation that the order went through.

Second, the contents remain in the shopping cart. This as well creates the impression that the order did not occur.

I started to look into this and realized I need some more information from you. Could you give me either the time this checkout happened, or the order number that was created? That way I can more easily track down what happened.

Thanks!

Your test transaction triggered an unknown error with Paypal. It appears that you made several Payment attempts. Here is how Paypal returned the errors:

[TIMESTAMP] => 2016-08-18T15:38:27Z

[ACK] => Failure
[VERSION] => 51.0

[L_ERRORCODE0] => 15005
[L_SHORTMESSAGE0] => Processor Decline
[L_LONGMESSAGE0] => This transaction cannot be processed.
[L_SEVERITYCODE0] => Error
[L_ERRORPARAMID0] => ProcessorResponse
[L_ERRORPARAMVALUE0] => 0051
[AMT] => 4.50
[CURRENCYCODE] => USD
[AVSCODE] => S
[CVV2MATCH] => N

It appears that your 3rd payment attempt was successful.

In order to assist you further, can you provide more details explaining what you were doing on each attempt? Do you have any ideas why Paypal was denying your charge attempts? You may get more information by contacting Paypal about these specific error codes.

Well, the first attempt that actually created the order that went through I just used the checkout by paypal. That one went through and created a paid order in the backend like it should, but i was not taken to a thank you page. Basically the error I am reporting here.

After that, I tried to place an order using the CC input, and I think that is what you are seeing with the errors. I wanted to test to see if I get the thank you page upon using the CC direct input. I do not believe I got any of those to go through. Interesting that it looks like ccv was the reason for the deny?

I know the 15005 means the bank (my bank in this case) denied the charge, not Paypal.

The 'Thank You' page is determined by your PayPal settings and is not controlled by your AllProWebTools account.

PayPal has provided instructions on how to configure your Thank You page (also called a return page) here.

The Thank You page you need to put into PayPal is this: https://www.secretcompassonline.com/thanks.php

The cart should be cleared when the visitor is properly directed to the Thank You page!

Okay, I entered the info properly into Paypal and I have auto-return turned on, but it still does not work. I am taken to our homepage and the cart is still showing the item I tried to purchase.

Please try turning off "Auto Return" in your Paypal account and let us know if that works.

When I turned this off I got this error in Paypal:

"You have not turned on Auto Return. You must turn on Auto Return in order for Payment Data Transfer to work properly."

I tested and the same issue happened. Not sure what data payment transfer means, all the notifications from paypal still worked and the order showed up paid in the backend.

Turning that back on right now..

Any update to this? It looks terrible for the site to not seem to recognize that the paypal order happened.

You can create your own custom "thank you" page in the website editor and link to it with the Paypal Return URL.

The problem though is that the site does not seem to recognize that the order happened, and the items in the order remain in the shopping cart.

Please follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue:
  1. Create a new thank you page and link to it from PayPal.
  2. Create an order and pay for it with a different PayPal account than the PayPal account that is receiving payment.
  3. Verify that the order is properly marked paid in your console.
If the above steps result in an order that is not marked paid, please provide the invoice number so that we may investigate the issue.

A paid order is getting created in the backend, the issue is that on the frontend the cart is not emptied.

https://www.secretcompassonline.com/thanks.php is the existing thank you page, where do I go to create another one?

well i need to be able to put PHP scripts into the thank you page, and the webpage editor won't let me put that into the source code.

unsure as to why i need 2 thank you pages, when paying with CC the thank you page pops up and the cart is cleared.
