unable to checkout with $0 deposit pre-orders

I started to look into this, and was wondering if you could answer a few questions for me.

1. Are you being stopped because credit card information is required?
2. Do you or your customers see an error message? And if so, what does it say.
3. And to confirm, this only happens when there is a $0 deposit pre-order item, and no other items in the cart, correct?

The payment buttons on the checkout page are all there. I am stopped if I try to pay by paypal with a paypal page that says "cart is empty", and if I enter CC information it won't complete because the amount is zero.

hit submit too quick. that's the same thing the customers are saying, and it only happens when the amount in the cart is zero, no items requiring payment.

In reviewing this issue, I found a line of code that was written specifically for Secret Compass that would FORCE a credit card to be entered even if the order was $0.00.

I do not know why this special case was created, so I have removed it. Please verify that everything is working as desired now.

I think we wanted to verify that the person actually had a valid payment method. But I do not think it is a big deal, things with $0 deposit are typically very cheap. It would be fine to just let them submit the order without requiring payment info.

Anyway I'll test now..

Okay, it "sort of" works. I was allowed to place the order, but in the backend I cannot void what I did. There is a payment in there that I cannot void, and therefore I am not allowed to void the order. 22806

You should be able to void the entire order without voiding the individual "Free" payment.
