New Order Work Flow

Post by Rich10 »

When taking a new order, the order entry should not begin with zip code, it should begin with email address, or some other way of identifying the account that is personal, avoids errors and duplication of data entry.

Why? Because all user records key off email address, and the entry of a duplicate email address causes an error response to the user taking the order, resulting in duplicate work.

If records key off email addresses, that should be the first data used, or confirmed, when taking an order. The zip code is impersonal, unlike a name or even an email address.

Thanks for the suggestion.

We have found that many customers have more than one email address and can usually recite their zip code quickly. The zip code was used as a quick way to narrow down the results of the following page and encourage the user to identify the customers record to avoid duplicate entries.

Perhaps a hybrid solution that offers the choice between zip code or email would be sufficient.

Also note, you can search for a customer by email address anytime by entering any portion of their email address in the first search field by selecting "help" from the menu bar.

Hope this helps!

How about being able to use name, email or zip? Name is much more personal, and then the customer can choose their account. In my opinion, their are two challenges: customer friendliness, and efficiency of order entry. The fact that any point in time a customer may have been a lead, and forgotten they signed up, and then orders, getting to the email field and then having a hiccup wastes a lot of time.
