Subdomain Setup

Post by Dave »

It is recommended only to use the temporary domains: greatmockup.com and myallprowebtools.com when first setting up your account.

We highly recommend that you create a subdomain on your own website domain for hosting your AllProWebTools CRM. So instead of using: mycompany.greatmockup.com we recommend using your actual domain name (ie. example.com) like this: apwt.example.com

Setting this up is quite simple. Just login to your domain host (usually godaddy or wherever you bought your website name from) and
create a new DNS entry of CNAME with the value of apwt that points to: apwt.allprowebtools-s2.com
Here is a link to the official instructions on how to do this with godaddy: link

When you are done, please be sure to "Go Live" by clicking on "website" and then "my webpages" and clicking the blue banner that says "want to go live?" as shown in this video:

Settings that are affected by domain or subdomain changes include:
  • user's login URL will change
  • CRM Inbox must be reset by deleting the webtool and then adding the webtool back
  • backlinks on the Internet to the old URL will go to a 404 page (or need a 301 redirect)
  • phone.com listener URLs will need to be updated
  • a new DNS entry will need to be created
  • a new SSL certificate will need to be issued
  • hosting adjustments need to be made on the server
